The Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC) is hosting the "2024 Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF)" in Taipei (Taiwan) in August. This is where interest groups meet to discuss internet governance issues that are not only regional in nature.
The APrIGF, a regional initiative of the IGF (Internet Governance Forum), will take place from August 21 to 23, 2024 in Taipei, the capital city on the island of Taiwan. The overarching themes of the event are "Evolving Ecosystems" and "Enduring Principles: Shaping Responsible Internet Governance". The event, which brings together Asia-Pacific stakeholders to discuss internet governance, will not only take place in Taipei, but will also be broadcast as a hybrid event via hubs at universities in the global region, including Bangladesh, India, Thailand, the Philippines and Samoa. The local universities are physical meeting points that allow remote participation in the APrIGF in parallel with the APrIGF sessions. The audience can follow the webcasts of the sessions and ask questions (via text, audio or video) to be answered by the panelists and otherwise participate in the discussion. The agenda for the three-day event is not yet complete. In any case, tutorials on the topics of "Security & Resilience", "Geopolitics & Internet", "GDPR and Data Protection Regulations in Europe" and "Digital Civilization in Asia-Pacific" have been announced for 23 August 2024. In addition, there is a list of 27 accepted seminars for which the dates have not yet been set. The organizers expect more than 200 speakers in more than 60 sessions and more than 1,000 participants.
The "2024 Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF)" will take place from August 21 to 23, 2024 at the NTUH International Convention Center, No. 2, Xuzhou Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City (Taiwan) and in numerous hubs in the Asia-Pacific region. Participation is free of charge.
