What the heck are domains?

Sat 29. Apr 2023, 12:15

If the topics of this forum are new to you and you want to learn about it, first you have to understand the following three terms.

Symbolics.com was the first domain name ever, registered on 15th March 1985.

Now you know what Freename is offering. You can register either a SLD or a TLD or both together in the following format: SLD.TLD
But that's not all. A domain from Freename is your entrance ticket into the Web3: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web3

If you found this website in the year 2023, you have to know that you are a pioneer, because the service of Freename was created only a few month ago and comes up with some revolutionary technologies most people don't know yet.

Floki. You must indicate to the Freename copywriter about this TLD and SLD, because the texts on the site are a complete mess in these concepts. It's very confusing when you come in for the first time!

Yes, these two terms are very confusing for people who don't know about it yet.

Here a good explanation:

A Top-Level Domain (TLD) is everything that comes after the final dot of a domain name. The Second Level Domain (SLD) is everything that comes before the dot. For example, “Freename” would be the SLD, and “.io” would be the TLD.

A complete domain name address always consists of at least two components:

SecondLevelDomain.TopLevelDomain

Respectively:

SLD.TLD
