Poland's .pl focuses on education

The Polish registry NASK will work more closely with the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland (UPRP) in future. A cooperation agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Patent Office in Warsaw on March 7, 2025. Among other things, it provides for the development of a joint guide for the administration of trademarks and domains as well as the publication of in-depth information and recommendations on the websites of both institutions regarding the registration of domain names and the granting of exclusive rights to trademarks in Poland. A preventive check as to whether a desired .pl domain is already registered as a trademark in the UPRP database will not take place for the time being; however, mutual consultations on strategic projects and legal regulations have been announced. NASK not only acts as a registry for the approximately 2.6 million .pl domains, but also sees itself as a leading state research institute that contributes to the analysis, research and development work for the national cyber security system.
