SK-NIC a.s., registry of the Slovakian country code extension .sk, has announced its intention to auction all previously reserved one-, two- and three-character domains. From October 1, 2024, an auction will start via the registry website, with trademark rights holders being given first access; if there are already several interested parties for the same domain at this stage, a three-day private auction will decide who wins the bid. The first public auction will start on November 15, 2024, with SK-NIC grouping the domains available for selection depending on the progress of the trademark owner auction phase; the following groups will start on January 15, 2025 and on the 15th of the following month. Each auction will last seven calendar days. The starting bid per domain is EUR 1,000 net for two-character domains and EUR 1,500 net for one-letter domains; anyone interested in one-character domains must bid at least EUR 2,000 net. The winner of an auction has 14 days to pay the purchase price and must register the domain within 30 days via the registrar appointed by him. To participate in the auction, it is necessary to set up a customer account.
