FSM Telecommunications Corporation, registry of the country code .fm (Micronesia), has reached an agreement with San Francisco-based BRS Media Inc. to extend their decades-long partnership. In 1998, BRS Media began marketing the then little-known country code of the Federated States of Micronesia as a ‘radio domain’; the abbreviation ‘FM’ (Frequency Modulation) is the English term for FM broadcasting. This means that .fm domains can be used primarily in the fields of broadcasting, podcasting, streaming and social entertainment, but the company also wants to tap into ‘Web3, blockchain, cryptocurrency, and NFTs’, according to the press release. ‘This new agreement extends our partnership to over 30 years, highlighting the reliability and stability of the .FM TLD. Originating in the world of radio and now a symbol of creativity and media, .FM stands as the original domain for content creators. From podcasters to musicians and vloggers, .FM empowers you to establish your presence in the digital landscape as a true pioneer of content creation,’ said George T. Bundy, Chairman & CEO of BRS Media.
