UK-based Lipsy Ltd. is parting ways with its .lipsy brand extension. In a letter dated 23 October 2024, Lipsy terminated the registry agreement with the Internet registry ICANN. As is usual with .brands, the cancellation is based on Section 4.4 (b) of the registry agreement, which allows ordinary cancellation at any time subject to a notice period of 180 days. The registry did not provide further details on the reasons for the cancellation. The .lipsy extension was delegated on 29 April 2016 and currently has 90 domains, compared to around 130 at its peak. The majority of the remaining domains were deleted on 22 October 2024 - one day before the termination. Lipsy is known on the island for fashion and cosmetic products. In January 2018, Lipsy stopped selling via its own website and decided to focus on sales via external websites and in-store sales. At that time, the company had 50 shops in the UK and 31 worldwide. ICANN has already decided not to transfer the .lipsy extension to a successor registry for the time being.
