The Internet registry ICANN has terminated the registry contracts with the Istanbul-based Asia Green IT System Bilgisayar San. ve Tic. Ltd. Sti. The generic top-level domains .nowruz, .pars, .shia, .tci and an internationalized top-level domain are affected. Asia Green had already been warned by ICANN in July 2024 for various breaches of contract; Asia Green allegedly failed to fulfill its contractual obligation for downtime of the Registration Data Directory Service and failed to submit monthly reports and pay fees on time. As a result, .nowruz, under which ten domains are currently registered, has been included in the Emergency Back-End Registry Operator (EBERO) program; the .uk registry Nominet has been appointed as the EBERO manager. To justify the termination, ICANN refers to the registry's failure to comply with a confidential term sheet dated October 25, 2025. The future of .nowruz is currently still open. “ICANN will conduct an assessment and make its determination regarding whether or not to transition operation of the .nowruz gTLD to a successor registry operator,” ICANN said.
